Inverlochlarig, Balquidder Nov 2020
Day Meet Sat 7th Nov 2020 Report
This Meet was advertised as ‘Inverlochlarig, Balquidder’ but in fact ended up as a ‘socially distanced’ event with members well spread out in the Southern Highlands.
Rob and Stuart set off from Inverlochlarig to do Stob a Choin a steep Corbett south of the sturdy new bridge across the river Larig that replaced the old one washed away last winter. I biked further up the glen to do the steep north face of the Graham, Meall Mor. In places the steep ground had suffered minor landslips, a little unnerving to realise how unstable the ground was. The clear sky gave good views in the sunshine once out of the shade in the glen.
Paul M and Keith enjoyed the scrambly Giants Staircase approach to Stob Ban in the Grey Corries. Followed by a rapid mtb descent down from the Leacach Bothy on the handy estate track back to their cars.
Jeff and Julia were up in the Cairngorms sunning themselves.
Paul G was up on the Ben Lawers range.
Wendy and Norman had their kayaks out on a millpond still Loch Earn.
Alex was somewhere ‘north of the A85’
The car parks everywhere were overflowing as it appears that every hillwalker in Scotland had decided to take advantage of the lovely sunshine before the black clouds of a possible second lockdown gathered on the horizon.
